The Edmonton Oilers are still in search of a true number-one goaltender, and a recent trade pitch has linked a Detroit Red Wing to be on his way to Edmonton.

The Oilers have been linked to adding another netminder to their roster this offseason; however, the calendar has flipped to August, and the organization has yet to make that happen.
With only a couple months left until the 2025/26 NHL regular season, Edmonton has to act fast, and due to that aspect, a recent pitch by Heavy.com revealed a potential trade may be set to erupt between the Oilers and Red Wings this offseason.
And it looks good for the Red Wings.

A recent trade proposal sees Detroit Red Wings' net-minder, Cam Talbot, land in Edmonton this offseason

A recent trade pitch has surfaced by Heavy.com, which would see the Edmonton Oilers reacquire the Detroit Red Wings' veteran goaltender, Cam Talbot.
Take a look at the proposed trade:
"Oilers acquire:

Cam Talbot
Red Wings acquire:

James Hamblin
2027 third-round pick"

This proposed deal could undoubtedly be a beneficial one for the Detroit Red Wings, as they are currently undergoing a re-tool, and this trade would ultimately give the organization a skilled AHL player and a draft pick.
With that being said, this trade seems more likely than not.
This is due to the fact the Oilers' general manager, Stan Bowman, unveiled he would be open to acquiring a goaltender this offseason, and the Detroit Red Wings can evidently afford to trade Talbot.

This season, the Red Wings made a bold move by acquiring Gibson to be their starting goalie.
Alongside this recent acquisition, Detroit also has one of the top goalie prospects in Cossa, who got some NHL experience last year.
That being said, Cossa could learn a lot from undergoing a backup position with the Red Wings, especially around Gibson, which could definitely allow Detroit to depart with Talbot.
«That experience was huge for me,» Cossa recently told DetroitRedWings.com regarding his NHL experience last campaign. «You're around all those guys at Training Camp and in the preseason, but when you're there doing the real thing with them in a competitive mode like that it's really fun. I was really happy to get the win there, grow from it and know what that's like.»

With all being said, it is unknown whether or not this trade proposal will erupt this offseason, yet Red Wings fans should buckle up as this summer is still expected to be busy.
