The Detroit Red Wings could add another goal-scoring forward in the lineup, as we see a trade pitch that involves the team acquiring a 1st-round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in a one-for-one swap.

Despite their hot start to the NHL regular season, with a 5-2 record, the team has to keep the ranks fresh.
That involves trades and waiver claims sometimes.
For today, we'll discuss how the Red Wings could acquire former 1st-round pick and Columbus Blue Jackets forward Yegor Chinakhov.
Heavy.com supplied the idea, albeit a little too far-fetched in our opinion, for a forward who still has high upside, which Dean Evason isn't ready to tap into, apparently.
The deal:
Red Wings Acquire:

Yegor Chinakhov ($2.1 million)

Blue Jackets Acquire:

Erik Gustafsson ($2 million)

The Columbus Blue Jackets Send Yegor Chinakhov to the Detroit Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings make out spectacularly on the deal, as they would receive Yegor Chinakhov, who can play in the top six and on the power-play.
Though he did have a down year last season, he can easily rebound as a healthy forward in the lineup.
Last season, in 30 games, he scored 15 points (7-8), and his clash with Dean Evason has caused him to request a trade in the media.
Now, Erik Gustafsson would get a fresh start and add some ancillary help to the blueline. This deal seems unlikely, as they already have aging blueliners in Erik Gudbranson and Ivan Provorov (who was an overpay).
»The 6-foot-1, 203 lb forward was initially drafted 21st overall by the Blue Jackets in 2020. This season, he has one assist in three games, averaging 8:41 per game.»

The deal seems like something you'd pull off on EA NHL, because the Blue Jackets and Don Waddell would want their pound of flesh for a 21st overall pick.
Gustafsson would add a third line style of play for the Blue Jackets, scoring 18 points in 60 games last season, while playing 16:19 time on ice.
Now in the AHL.
