Red Wings' AHL team set to make history with current undefeated season starting streak

Despite losing the last two games, the Detroit Red Wings organization is off to a start that surprised many experts. Their five-game winning streak brought hope that the team had reached a new level in their rebuild, and gave fans reasons to believe they will be able to return to the winning track soon.

But the organization is currently having success on another level as well: the Grand Rapids Griffins are yet to be defeated in the AHL.

With a win tonight, the team could tie a franchise record, and will welcome massive reinforcements to the lineup.

The Grand Rapids Griffins have a 4-0 record for the third time in franchise history. They had a 5-0 start in 2004-05, and could tie that mark tonight with a win against the Manitoba Moose.

To help them win, Nate Danielson will return to the lineup after missing the start of the season due to an injury.

Danielson had some great looks in training camp before an injury forced him to miss the start of the season.

The 6-foot-2 center scored 39 points in 71 games, and added one goal in three playoff games with the Griffins last season.

Fans are eager to see him back on the ice and assess where he's at, considering he could be an interesting call-up candidate for the Red Wings.
