NHL On TNT analyst Paul Bissonnette couldn't help but praise forward Emmitt Finnie of the Detroit Red Wings during a recent broadcast.
Paul Bisonnette isn't one of the former NHL players who goes out of his way to praise other NHL players. But during the broadcast of the NHL on TNT before the game against the Buffalo Sabres, he took a moment to appreciate forward Emmitt Finnie.
Finnie has played a total of 6 games during his NHL career and has scored 5 points (2-3).
He's
been given an opportunity on the 1st line with the Detroit Red Wings this season and has taken advantage of it with his high hockey IQ, according to Paul Bissonnette.
He's used his "high hockey IQ" to be able to discern pressure and identify weak spots in the defense to create offense against teams like the Florida Panthers.
It's not just how he handles himself with the puck, but his intelligence away from the puck, which helps the Red Wings be successful.
The Detroit Red Wings Got A Steal With Emmitt Finnie
The Red Wings drafted Finnie in the 7th round, 201st overall, in Nashville, and they got a complete player in the lineup as a result.
"The metrics are also impressive. According to Money Puck, they have a xGoals percentage of 40.5% and a xGoals For Per 60 Minutes of 2.575. This line is a large reason why the Red Wings are currently sitting a top of the Atlantic Division."
Bissonnette wasn't incorrect about Finnie's high hockey IQ, as he has been a great help in securing the team's top spot in the Atlantic Division.
