Forward Alex DeBrincat of the Detroit Red Wings furthered his case to make the 2026 Team USA Olympic roster against the New Jersey Devils on Monday night.
The Detroit Red Wings are fortunate to have a player like Alex DeBrincat in the lineup.
In the last five games played for the team, he's been on a four-game points streak, scoring 6 (4-2) in five.
He added another reason to the bucket of 24 reasons (10-14) Monday, against one of the Metropolitan Division's best teams.
DeBrincat plays on the same line as American-born legend Patrick Kane and center JT Compher.
On that line, DeBrincat is producing at an exponential rate this season and is above a point-per-game pace in 2025-26.
"Obviously I believe in myself. I believe I should be on that team. I feel good right now. With that being said, there's a lot of good players. I'm sure they have some hard, tough choices."
"I definitely wasn't happy about it. Everyone there deserved to be there as well, so it's tough to be in the position where it kind of is what it is. It's water under the bridge."
In an interview with NHL.com, he said he believed he was snubbed by the GM of Team USA, Bill Guerin.
Now, the former 39-goal forward will have to put it into overdrive as Guerin doesn't seem to have his gaze fixed on DeBrincat, where it should be.
Especially if he wants Team USA to have any chance against Team Canada. We all witnessed the thrashing Canada gave to them in the Four Nations Face Off.
