According to the latest update from head coach Todd McLellan, the Detroit Red Wings are avoiding the worst-case scenario with Lucas Raymond's injury.
Lucas Raymond got injured on Monday by a dangerous hit from
Chris Tanev in a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Tanev pushed him into the boards, and after he fell on the ice, Raymond left the game.
Today, the Wings shared an official update about Raymond's injury and who will replace him on the top line alongside team captain
Dylan Larkin and standout rookie
Emmitt Finnie.

Seeing Raymond miss significant time would've been a tough sight for Wings fans. Raymond is the best player in Detroit, and the team won't look the same without him.
However,
in today's update, McLellan revealed that Raymond will be reevaluated on a daily basis and shouldn't miss much time:
"He's got some experience, he can play both ends of the rink, which is important. That line takes on not only offensive responsibilities but some defensive ones against the other team's top players. We think he can give us something on both sides of the puck."
Appleton also provided his thoughts on his new role, saying he wants to bring his game to his new line without changing his style:
"It's kind of tough to try to change your game too much. I mean, maybe just like a little tweak here and there, but I am who I am as a player. I'm just gonna try to provide that and complement those guys with my game."
Appleton has tallied one goal this season so far, but his production will surely go up on the top line.
