In another moment of chaos caught on the ice this season, NHL referee Kyle Rehman got caught on a hot mic during the Detroit Red Wings game, calling out forward Kyle Palmieri unexpectedly, adding tension to the situation.

NHL referee Kyle Rehman got caught on a hot mic arguing with New York Islanders forward Kyle Palmiere, who disagreed with the penalty. While being escorted to the penalty box, he and Rehman were mouthing off to each other.
Rehman responded in kind to the "worthiness" of the penalty, which Palmieri disputed:
"Pick. You want a slash or a crosscheck?" This all happened over Rehman's microphone for everyone in the arena to hear.
Instead of winning his argument, Palmieri would be escorted to a 2-minute break in the penalty box for his troubles.

The New York Islanders Defeat the Detroit Red Wings despite Kyle Palmieri's Antics

Unfortunately for the Detroit Red Wings, they wouldn't find the help they needed to defeat the Patrick Roy-led Islanders, who defeated them 7-2.
Palmieri himself would score a goal on 3 shots against the Red Wings' goalie Cam Talbot while playing a total of 16:59 time on ice tonight.
The antics of hockey are the majority of the fun, as we don't get enough hot mic situations to keep the games in a lighthearted manner.
Nevertheless, the truth of the matter is that the team failed to shut down a terrible Islanders squad.
Forward Emil Heineman scored 2 goals tonight, and David Rittich ended the night with a .939 save percentage. The team was unable to shut down the Islanders and Matthew Schaefer.
The Red Wings will have to do better to take advantage of situations like the above.
