Red Wings' Patrick Kane ties incredible career-high vs. Sabres
Detroit Red Wings future Hall of Famer Patrick Kane had himself an amazing night against the divisional foe Sabres, tying a career-best with 5 points.
Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane's spot in the Hockey Hall of Fame is guaranteed after he decides to call it a career - but before that happens, he enjoyed a career night against his hometown team.
Kane made sure it happened, tying a new career-best with 5 points on the night as part of a 7-3 win for Detroit to help them stop the bleeding and pick up a critical pair of points.
He also became the 4th-oldest player in Detroit history with a 5-point performance:
He scored twice while adding three assists, which started with his power play goal in the 1st period, ripping a shot blocker side past goaltender Ukka-Pekka Lukkonen:
He later scored another power play goal for good measure in the 3rd period, picking up his own rebound off the post and then burying it into the back of the net past a sprawling Lukkonen:
Kane is playing in his 1st full year with the Red Wings after agreeing to re-sign with them during the summer on a 1-year contract.
While his contract comes off the books in the summer, Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman could very well entertain re-signing him again if he'd be open to another return, especially to continue his time playing with good friend (and former Blackhawks teammate) Alex DeBrincat.
