The Detroit Red Wings have reassigned enforcer Austin Watson to the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins today.
The team that's atop the Atlantic Division has
sent down reinforcements to the AHL on Monday, ahead of their last game of their road trip against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Joining the Grand Rapids Griffins will be former 1st-round pick in the 2010 NHL Draft, Austin Watson.
The move happened ahead of the game today against the Vegas Golden Knights, as the Red Wings feel confident with the lineup they are putting on the ice.
They come into today's match against the former Stanley Cup champions with a record of 9-4-0.
With the latest move, they sent down 528 games of NHL experience to the minors, as the Grand Rapids Griffins get some muscle in the lineup and receive their former AHL All-Star back in the ranks.
The Grand Rapids Griffins Receive Austin Watson
The Grand Rapids Griffins will happily accept their former All-Star forward in the lineup.
Last season, he performed well enough to receive a nod to the AHL All-Star Game in Palm Beach, California.
He scored 16 points and 37 points in 56 games with the Griffins, and the bruising forward will be able to play top minutes with the team again soon.
Watson has played 528 games during his career and played for the Nashville Predators, Detroit Red Wings, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Ottawa Senators. He's scored a total of 121 points (63-58) and 722 penalty minutes.
