Sergei Fedorov gives straight forward answer when asked about joining the Red Wings organization as a coach
While he's been successful as a Head Coach in the KHL, Red Wings legend Sergei Fedorov shied away from the idea of becoming a coach in the NHL when asked about it.
While we expect to see Sergei Fedorov present in Little Caesars Arena on July 12th for his jersey retirement ceremony, should we expect more?
The ceremony will happen on home ice when the Carolina Hurricanes come into town. With two Gagarin Cup titles to his name, during a recent press conference, Fedorov was asked about his future ambitions in the sport of hockey.
«No one from the NHL called me, the topic was sucked from the finger,» Fedorov told Russian news agency TASS. «I have another year of contract with CSKA. I don't, didn't have and won't have plans to conquer America in a different status.»
The Detroit Red Wings Honor Sergei Fedorov With A special Ceremony
The thought of Fedorov stepping behind the bench for a team he helped build a legacy with would be an amazing idea.
But it appears that with his own ambitions hidden from us all, he'd rather enjoy his free time and spend it with his family.
Honestly, who can blame him?
Fedorov has done enough for the team, winning three Stanley Cups, and played 1,248 games for the Red Wings.
