Stanley Cup Champions acquire a familiar face to Red Wings fans: A diamond in the rough off of waivers

A recent transaction was completed on Wednesday, October 15, which saw a former Detroit Red Wings defenseman, Donovan Sebrango, claimed by the Florida Panthers on waivers.
The Detroit Red Wings drafted Donovan Sebrango in the third round (63rd overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, where he spent most of his time in the organization with the Red Wings' AHL affiliate team, the Grand Rapids Griffins.
The 23-year-old played three seasons with the Griffins, appearing in a total of 135 games and collecting five goals, 13 assists, and 60 penalty minutes.
This Ottawa native was then traded to the Senators in 2023.

Sebrango appeared in four games with the Sens over the past two seasons, where he accumulated zero points and five penalty minutes.
Now, new insight has revealed that the Florida Panthers have officially claimed this defenseman off of waivers from the Ottawa Senators.
Donovan Sebrango claimed off waivers by the Florida Panthers
Sebrango re-signed a contract extension with the Sens last month, agreeing to a one-year, two-way contract.
However, after playing in just two games with Ottawa, this blueliner was then placed on waivers Tuesday.
Now, Florida has officially claimed him off waivers.
