Surprise scene in Detroit: A new face has officially arrived to the Red Wings live
The Detroit Red Wings and Steve Yzerman inked goalie Michal Postava to an entry-level contract not too long ago, and to everyone's surprise, he's already arrived for development camp in Detroit.
The
Detroit Red Wings' prospect pipeline is chock-full of talent again, thanks to GM Steve Yzerman.
Recently, they had signed Czech goalie Michal Postava to an entry-level contract in the NHL. Postava has impressed the team with his performance in the Extraliga playoffs.
Postava's Success With Kometa Brno
He played for the Kometa Brno and had regular season stats of 23-18-0, with a .923 save percentage and 2.39 GAA.
For
Postava, what he didn't count on was a deal with the Red Wings, which manifested soon after his playoff success. He joins
Sebastian Cossa and Trey Augustine in the pipeline.
What was unexpected was for him to show up in Detroit for development camp, but he made the effort nonetheless.
After winning the Czech Extraliga, he feels fearless and seems like there is nothing he can't conquer at this point in his professional hockey career.
That seems to be the only explanation.
Postava has been in Hockeytown since July 3rd, 2025; he has met his new teammates and the front office and has earned the attention of fans as the Red Wings' hottest prospect thus far.
Postava will earn $975K over the next two years with the Red Wings and will get reps in the AHL with the Grand Rapids Griffins.
With
John Gibson and Cam Talbot in the net, they should give all of the goalie prospects enough time to mature before they make the leap. Now, Postava will join a deep pipeline of talent in the AHL.
