But today, it appears the
Red Wings are swapping picks with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Steve Yzerman and the team would swap the 2025 3rd-round pick (76th overall) with the Columbus Blue Jackets for a 2025 4th-round pick (109th) and a 2026 4th-round pick.
Is there someone Yzerman likes at 109th overall?
If we take a look at available prospects, if Columbus still had the pick, at 109th overall, Tankathon had them projected to take LHD
Sam Laurila from Fargo.
We're not certain what Steve Yzerman's plan is with both of the fourth-round picks acquired today, whether they'll be a part of another package or used to draft talent, but the mystery is part of the romanticism behind the draft.
You never know what's coming next, and sometimes NHL talent is found late in the draft.
Here are the picks from the Detroit Red Wings today:
44. Detroit - Eddie Genborg, Forward, Linkoping
75. Detroit - Michael Pradel, Goalie, Tri-City Americans
Other than Bear, it's difficult to see the true vision behind the moves lately, as Yzerman has punted on NHL trades during the draft, while we continue to see other teams move picks and talent with ease.
Is it a lack of vision, inspiration, or the fact that nearly a decade into his tenure, there's no solid plan?
