The Detroit Red Wings have activated prospect Carter Mazur off the injured reserve, as Steve Yzerman has gotten ahead of the game, as Mazur is ready for training camp.
Detroit Red Wings prospect Carter Mazur made his NHL debut on March 6th, but the center would later suffer an injury, taking him out of the lineup for four months.

According to Mazur, he's put on 15 pounds during the offseason and is back to full health, which is great news for the Red Wings.
Mazur used to play hockey in Detroit in Little Caesar's AAA and would later play in the US NTDP. His development and career would continue in the USHL (Tri-City Americans) and NCAA (Denver Pioneers).
The hometown kid wouldn't stay away from home forever, as he'd return to the AHL to play for the Grand Rapids Griffins in 2023, and would be a key contributor, scoring 58 points in 86 AHL games.
Mazr was expected to take a step forward in 2024-25, but would later be injured, which put him out of the lineup until January. He'd return to scoring at a clip of a point-per-game in the AHL, and would earn a call-up after a stellar performance in February and March.
He'd suffer an upper-body injury against the Utah Mammoth, a season-ending injury, which would limit him to 15 points in 20 games with the Griffins.
Mazur would give us some insight into his offseason goals:
I was called up for a reason. My game is still there Gaining strength was always a big part of probably why I've gotten hurt a lot. I'm on the smaller side, but [Griffins Strength and Conditioning Coordinator] Marcus [Kinney] and [Griffins Physical Therapist] Zack Harvey put me in a good spot heading into the summer.
The
Red Wings are preparing for training camp to start up, and Mazur could be a part of the prospect pool, which could find themselves competing for a job in the NHL, should they make an impression on Steve Yzerman and Todd McLellan.
The more realistic expectations to start 2025-26 is that he attains a top-six role in Grand Rapids, but should remain at the top of the depth charts in Detroit.
