A recent revelation by Sportsnet's NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed the rift between Jason Robertson and the Stars that could ultimately end his time in Dallas.
According to Elliotte Friedman, Jason Robertson and his uncertainty with the Dallas Stars organization is due to a gap in salary earnings during contract talks with general manager Jim Nill.
With several rumors swirling regarding Jason Robertson and the Detroit Red Wings, including some reports even revealing the cost to acquire him, things could certainly get messy in Dallas if they do not give a fair contract offer to the former 46-goal-scoring forward.
The team is currently paying Robertson $7.75 million AAV, and that efficient salary will be ending at the end of this upcoming 2025-26 season.
Jason Robertson trade could come to reality
Friedman notes that the two sides cannot find an agreement on salary, and in our opinion, it could ultimately lead to the rumors becoming true of a trade incoming.
"I just think it comes down to the number. I think Dallas has an area they don't want to go over, and the question is, does Robertson want to go over that? I can't imagine they want to go over Rantanen, which is $12 million, so we'll see."
After signing Mikko Rantanen to a pricey, $12 million AAV deal, they clearly weren't thinking about their own homegrown talent.

Robertson posted 80 points (35 goals, 45 assists) this past season with the Dallas Stars compared to Rantanen's 20-game stint, in which he tallied 18 points last season with the club after being dealt there.
