The Detroit Red Wings are heading into a brutal offseason, as they have missed postseason contention for their ninth-straight season, new changes are set to erupt, and recent insight has suggested that an unexpected trade is on the rise.

Bleacher Report writer, Adam Getz, revealed some news regarding the Detroit Red Wings' net-minder scenario, announcing the team is in dire need of making changes within the net, as their goaltender situation seems to be their biggest downfall.
«The bottom line is the Red Wings were 22nd in all-situations save percentage this season as a team, and it was a big part (even if not the only part) of their goal-prevention issues,» Getz stated.
The Detroit Red Wings need to ensure strong contention within the 2025/26 NHL season, and it seems as though the organization will have to start their re-build within the net.
However, Detroit is certainly not the only team that struggled within the NHL this past season, in fact, their Original Six rival, the Boston Bruins, also endured an immense amount of struggle and missed the playoffs as well.
This has left the an immense amount of speculations within the Bruins organization, leaving many to believe their net-minder, Jeremy Swayman, will be the next one out of the door.
Despite Swayman's underwhelming season, he has elite skill and offers promise for the 2025/26 NHL season, and if the Boston Bruins agree to trade him this offseason, new insight has revealed the Detroit Red Wings may just be the next organization to acquire him.
Getz revealed why this may be a great option for the Detroit Red Wings:
«Neither Mrazek nor Talbot is any sort of a long- or short-term option, while prospects in goal can tend to be extremely hit-and-miss. Projecting their performance long-term is an inexact science. Even if Cossa does pan out, having two good goalie options in the NHL for the long term isn't a bad thing,» Getz wrote.

If Jeremy Swayman and Detroit Red Wings' prospect, Sebastian Cossa, make their way into the organization this offseason, Detroit's future would look brighter than ever.
