The Detroit Red Wings organization made an official announcement involving several players, and changes are being completed.

The offseason in Detroit may have been deemed underwhelming by some, but Steve Yzerman still acquired a total of five players expected to start the season in the lineup: Mason Appleton, James van Riemsdyk, John Gibson, Jacob Bernard-Docker, and Travis Hamonic.
In a massive announcement, the Red Wings revealed what numbers they'll wear with the team next season.

On X, the team shared a picture with the jersey numbers of the Wings' latest additions.
Van Riemsdyk will wear 21, Appleton will wear 22, Bernard-Docker will wear 25, Gibson will wear 36, and Hamonic will wear 52.
Here's the organization's post:
Fans are eager to see what these new players will bring to the team. Over the summer, they all shared comments about how they approach the next season.
"There's a lot of potential there, and [Detroit] is a team on the right trajectory. I'm super excited to go there, show what I got, and hopefully be a contributor." - Jacob Bernard-Docker

"I think as you get older in your career, obviously you have your calling cards as a player.

You have to find ways to be a bit more versatile, add value in different ways to a team, and be able to contribute in different ways, so I think I've been able to add some different things to my game that can make me be able to play in different spots all over the lineup.

Coming into camp, I'm sure that's what we'll try to figure out as a team - how the puzzle pieces start to fit together." - James van Riemsdyk

"It's a new chapter, a fresh start. I'm excited to prove myself. It's an exciting opportunity. You get a team that really wants to get back to playoff hockey. They've been so close for a couple of years, and for me coming in and being part of it It's a historic franchise, the new arena. It's a really exciting time. I'm really privileged and honored to be coming in and be part of it all." - John Gibson

Hopefully, they will start the season on the right foot to get in a great position to be in the playoff race in the spring.
