An asset that was involved in the Alex DeBrincat trade between the Detroit Red Wings and the Ottawa Senators was claimed off NHL waivers by the back-to-back Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers on Wednesday afternoon.
The Detroit Red Wings acquired standout goal scorer Alex DeBrincat in a trade with the Ottawa Senators two years ago.
DeBrincat became a member of the Red Wings after the organization sent forward Dominik Kubalik, prospect defenseman
Donovan Sebrango, and two draft picks to Ottawa.
Yesterday, the Senators placed one of those players on waivers, and he was claimed today.

The Senators surprised a lot of people Tuesday afternoon when they announced that they had placed Donovan Sebrango on waivers.
However, it's not surprising to learn that the Florida Panthers claimed him.
During training camp, Sebrango showed a lot of physicality and looked great in the first two games of the regular season.
In the preseason, against the Montreal Canadiens, he stood out with a controversial play on
Kirby Dach. The player grabbed the Habs forward from behind and shoved him to the ice.
Then, in the Senators' first game of the season against Tampa Bay, for the Lightning's home opener, he dropped the gloves with
Emil Lilleberg:
It'll be interesting to see if Sebrango will be in the lineup for tonight's game against the Detroit Red Wings, the organization that drafted him.
