Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane addresses career longevity and comments on retirement date
Patrick Kane recently discussed the topic of retirement while partaking in his season-exit interview with the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday.
The Detroit Red Wings woke up from their slumber to the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Saturday, in which they aren't a part of once again. It was quite the sour second half of the season, as many truly believed they were going all in on clinching a playoff spot.
Several players took the stand to face the Detroit media for their yearly season-exit interviews, and Patrick Kane's comments are attracting the most attention from the Red Wings' faithful.
Kane started off with a bang while
discussing his future in Detroit, appearing to hint at his return to the team next season despite being a pending unrestricted free agent.
He revealed that the feelings is mutual in wanting to return to the Red Wings for the 2025-26 season, but that's not all the 36-year old NHL veteran commented on.
Retirement looming for Patrick Kane?
After a recent hip resurfacing surgery that many don't fully recover from, will Patrick Kane continue to play the game he loves?
Yes, he sure will. And it appears retirement isn't looming until years away, according to Showtime himself.
Kane's setting a personal milestone of playing 1,500 NHL games, meaning a minimum of three more NHL seasons to reach that total due to his current 1,302 game mark.
He's appeared to look like his prime self as of late, recording 13-game winning goals throughout the last two years, which is the most out of any Red Wings forward.
Embracing the 'showtime' nickname he holds, he has returned to regular form with a 59 point season with Detroit this past season.
A true future Hall of Famer, it sure is a treat to watch Kane lace them up in what will be one of his final few NHL seasons.
