Detroit Red Wings goaltender John Gibson debuts a brand-new pad setup at training camp
Not only is it exciting to see training camp get underway, but now we get to see the new gear John Gibson will be wearing and using as a Detroit Red Wing, with jerseys manufactured by Fanatics, and his newest True Temper stick is ready to help him guard the crease.
The Detroit Red Wings welcome John Gibson
into the fold, as he debuted his new gear today during training camp.
While we expect Gibson to be someone who will take the Red Wings to the playoffs, he first has to settle in. The first part is to get his own customized gear, which we see with the True Temper "Smoke" stick, which is a change from what we've seen him use before.
Before it was CCM in Anaheim; while he'd wear pads that matched the accent of the Ducks' newest orange jerseys, they hearkened back to the days of Wild Wing.
Now, he'll be wearing an Original Six crest, and along with that, changing his specifications. Note the clean, but minimalistic, color pads, which are red and white.
Red Wings' John Gibson, a Savior in the Crease For Detroit?
While Gibson isn't known for changing his gear often, this is the 2nd team he's played for in the NHL.
As a lifelong Duck, he's seen playoff time in Anaheim, but none of it has been significant enough to come close to winning a Stanley Cup.
With new color pads, a new True Temper stick, and a new team in front of him, can he deliver the Red Wings to the playoffs?
Last season, he finished with a 2.73 GAA and a .912 save percentage
Can he do better in Detroit?
