General manager Steve Yzerman delivers interesting 'best all-time' Red Wings roster

General Manager Steve Yzerman of the Detroit Red Wings has just named his all-time team of those who have worn the winged wheel during their professional hockey careers; the lineup might surprise you.
From November 6th through the 9th, the Red Wings will be hosting a special event at the Motor City Casino Hotel.
The event will be special for one reason in particular: it's a four-day show that will feature Red Wings icons.
"One of the highlights of the weekend is an event called "100 Years of Hockeytown," which will be hosted by Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond at the Fox Theatre."
During this epic weekend, we will see players such as Vladimir Konstantinov, Chris Chelios, Sergei Fedorov (whose #91 will be raised to the rafters), Nicklas Lidstrom, and Brendan Shanahan returning as alumni, with Scotty Bowman in tow.
General Manager Steve Yzerman is excited to reconnect with his old friends and teammates, and on 97.1 The Ticket, he was asked about his own "all-time" lineup of Red Wings players in the midst of all the extravagance bound to happen in November.

Unsurprisingly, one of the first players mentioned by Yzerman was Gordie Howe. Who could ever leave him off a roster of such epic proportions?
Also mentioned were Ted Lindsay (who helped found the NHLPA) and the magic man, Pavel Datsyuk.
"Gordie on the wing, that'd be one. Center, Pavel (Datsyuk), but you couldn't be wrong with any of the choices. Other winger, Ted Lindsay. On the backend, it would be Nick Lidstrom and Red Kelly. And in net Terry Sawchuk."
An interesting mix of decades, along with Red Kelly and Terry Sawchuk bringing in the rear, with Lidstrom being a focal point. There are six Hall of Famers here, with a combined total of 26 Stanley Cups and 58 All-Star nominations.
His depth?
"You could name Sergei in the middle, you could name Pavel, Alex Delvecchio. There's so many good choices."
The amount of legendary talent featured in this lineup is one we'd never be able to see on the ice, but in EA's NHL game, certainly.
The team has plenty of talent to depend on for a lifetime when it comes to constructing your own iconic roster.
And now he's building his own at the moment, as we see a new team emerging from the husk that Ken Holland left.
