It appears that former Detroit Red Wings legend, Henrik Zetterberg, won't be joining his fellow competitors in the Hockey Hall of Fame this year in Toronto.

In news we regret to announce, Henrik Zetterberg didn't receive a call from the Hockey Hall of Fame this week.
As a result of being passed over for another year, in a four-year term of eligibility, he'll have to exercise his patience. As he'll have to wait--another year!
Instead of being inducted into the Hall of Fame, we'll see defenseman Duncan Keith, Zdeno Chara, and Alexander Mogilny, will be inducted. While female players Jennifer Botterill (Hockey Night in Canada), sister to former Buffalo Sabre Jason Botterill, and Brianna Decker will join them.
A great disappointment for Zetterberg, a former Stanley Cup champion, who has played over 1,082 games in the NHL, all with the Detroit Red Wings.
The snub is painful given how meaningful a career he's had in the NHL.
Zetterberg won the Conn Smythe in 2008 (the league MVP ) while leading the Red Wings to their last Cup win. He's been a member of the limited Triple Gold club ( Stanley Cup, Olympics, and World Championships).
The former Red Wings forward ranks fifth on the team's career list for goals (337), assists (623), and points (960).
It's a sad day for Zetterberg and the Red Wings as they'll have to wait another year in order to see one of the team's greatest players get the honor he deserves in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
He won't be joining fellow teammates and inductees such as Pavel Datsyuk (2024) and Daniel Alfredsson (2022), while Colin Campbell was inducted as a builder, and former Red Wings goalie Mike Vernon has found a spot in the Hall, too.
It's a tough break for Zetterberg, who deserves the honors.
