The Detroit Red Wings were dealt an extremely disappointing fate against the red-hot St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night at Enterprise Center.

Talk about a cruel April Fool's Day joke for the Red Wings against their former divisional foe St. Louis Blues.
Goaltender Cam Talbot is to be commended, doing all he could to help Detroit secure what would have been an extremely valuable 2 points in the tightly-packed Atlantic Division standings.
Unfortunately, things didn't turn out the way they had planned. Despite J.T. Compher breaking a scoreless tie in the third period, the Blues tied things up with less than a minute left in regulation; Cam Fowler then later scored in overtime.
The Blues won their 10th straight game in the process.

Red Wings coach Todd McLellan admitted that it was a "tough" loss to swallow.
But McLellan showed a large lack of emotion, and it's drawing concern.
Since calling out captain Dylan Larkin, the 57-year old head coach has shied away from holding players accountable.
His lack of emotion and public pressure on the team is not helping the Red Wings any further to a playoff spot, and it could ultimately lead to his firing this off-season.
It's tough, we know what's at stake and it's not the fact we gave up a point to an opponent, it was just that we didn't get the point. After starting slow, Talbs kept us in it, and we worked our way back in. We checked fairly well. They're a tough team to handle. We put ourselves in a situation to win and with about 3:40 left we iced the puck and we were tired.

We just couldn't find a way to hit the open net at the other end and just finish the night.

At the same time, to add insult to injury, the Montreal Canadiens tied their game with just 9.8 seconds left in regulation against the Florida Panthers and then won in overtime.
Thanks to Montreal's improbable win and Detroit's overtime loss, the Canadiens are now a full 4 points ahead of Detroit in the standings, with time quickly running short.
