New insight has surfaced in a recent trade proposal between the Detroit Red Wings and St. Louis Blues: An analyst has shut it down.

Just yesterday, August 30, Heavy.com unveiled a trade pitch, which would see the Detroit Red Wings solidify their blue line by landing a 980-game veteran from the St. Louis Blues.
Take a look at the proposed deal:
«Heavy.com is proposing a trade involving the Red Wings and St. Louis Blues:

Detroit Red Wings acquire:

Justin Faulk

St. Louis Blues acquire:

Justin Holl, Max Plante, and a 2028 second-round pick» stated Tristan McKinstry of Heavy.com
Although Justin Faulk's experience and knowledge could evidently be valuable for the Red Wings, an analyst has completely shut the idea down.

Analyst shuts down trade pitch between the Detroit Red Wings and St. Louis Blues

Analyst Ryan O'Hara of Octopus Thrower quickly shut down any speculation that the Red Wings may try to acquire Justin Faulk from the former divisional foe St. Louis Blues.
O'Hara suggests that a potential acquisition of Faulk isn't what the Detroit Red Wings need, especially if it means the organization would have to part ways with a prospect like Max Plante.
Take a look:
«Within the Detroit Red Wings' developmental pipeline, Plante ranks comfortably among the organization's top five prospects, and his long-term potential makes him especially difficult to part with.»

- Ryan O'Hara

Plante, who was the Detroit Red Wings' 47th pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, had nine goals and 19 assists, totalling 28 points, within 23 games for the University of Minnesota-Duluth during his last campaign.
Additionally, general manager Steve Yzerman has made it clear that his philosophy will not include trading draft picks for veteran players as a «win now» kind of move.
As he believes this kind of mindset could potentially hurt this Original Six franchise's future success, meaning he isn't likely to entertain a trade proposal such as this one.
Do you think Detroit Red Wings' Steve Yzerman and the front office will still make some major moves this offseason?
