Red Wings receive a major reinforcement as an injured player has been cleared to return
The Detroit Red Wings have received one reinforcement in the lineup after they activated a former 1st-round pick from the non-roster list.
For now, the team has assigned Danielson to the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins, where he'll continue to develop as one of the Red Wings' best prospects.
Last season, he played a total of 71 games for the Grand Rapids Griffins and scored 39 points (12-27) with a plus-four rating.
He'd also see playoff time in the Calder Cup race with the Red Wings' minor-league affiliates:
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound forward also registered one goal and nine penalty minutes in three Calder Cup Playoff games.
The Detroit Red Wings receive reinforcement, Nate Danielson
The Red Wing forward was selected 9th overall in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft and had made his professional hockey debut with the Griffins during the 2024 Calder Cup playoffs.
He'd play two games during the playoffs against the Milwaukee Admirals before being injured.
The former 1st-round pick played for both the Portland Winterhawks and Brandon Wheat Kings, scoring 67 points (24-43) in 2023-24 with a +26 rating in 5 WHL games.
Now, he'll have a chance to work his way up the depth chart for a shot at a spot in the Red Wings lineup in the future.
Danielson signed an $886K AAV (average annual value) over the next three years.
