The Detroit Red Wings goaltender duo has gotten a nod for the most interesting setup throughout the NHL by Sportsnet.

The Original Six team has had some questionable netminding for the past few seasons, as they've cycled through players like Alex Nedeljkovic, Petr Mrazek, Alex Lyon, Ville Husso, and Thomas Greiss.
After acquiring Petr Mrazek at the last trade deadline, he'd quickly be involved in a trade for the Anaheim Ducks' number-one goalie, John Gibson, with two draft picks attached.
Gibson would be the start of a promising goaltending duo, bolstered by veteran Cam Talbot.
The romanticism behind Gibson's talents has been declining, like his play behind a rebuilding team like the Ducks.
So while we'd have thought that Gibson would've stolen the starting goalie spot by now, it appears Cam Talbot is intent on making it a 1a-1b situation, a true tandem.
According to Sportsnet, it's one of the most interesting storylines of this NHL season so far.
It's been a welcome change for goaltending that's been subpar in recent years.
"So far this season, while Gibson's save percentage doesn't stand out, he's saving more goals than expected, and his GSAE is better than Talbot's. But Talbot, too, has been pretty good outside of one horrible loss against the Islanders."

Needless to say, they're doing their best and have improved the team's standings in the team save percentage. At the end of 2024-25, it was 22nd, and now it's 19th while the team ranks 2nd in the Atlantic.
Could this be a playoff-bound team?
