Patrick Kane unexpectedly returns to Chicago and we have confirmation
Current Detroit Red Wing forward Patrick Kane won three Stanley Cups with the Chicago Blackhawks, and the city hasn't forgotten his efforts; they've repaid him in kind with a "Patrick Kane Day" on August 8th.
The City of Chicago has given
Red Wings forward Patrick Kane a huge honor. It was announced this week that August 8th would be known as "Patrick Kane Day".
The day was named in honor of the former 1st-round pick in the 2007 NHL Draft, who was a part of the team's dynasty in the 2010s.
Kane's trophies and honors include a Conn Smythe, a Hart Trophy, and, of course, multiple Stanley Cups. Now, he'll receive a memorialization with a day with his name on it.
Kane's Committed to the Red Wings, but Chicago's Home
Kane wore a Blackhawks crest for the majority of his NHL career (16 years). For the forward, the City of Chicago will be a magical place for him, as it's a place close to his heart.
The fans are always jubilant when he shows up in Chicago, despite wearing a different jersey the last few times.
For they'll always have love for a player who delivered three Championships in the Windy City, putting him in the discussion of the greats like Michael Jordan.
The City Council would signify the day with a post on "X":
For fans, it seems like there was never a chance to get a proper goodbye to the forward after he was traded to New York in 2023.
The day holds a special connotation to his jersey number, as the day is August (8th month) and the 8th day.
Now, fans can celebrate Kane yearly.
