The scorching-hot Detroit Red Wings are riding a 7-game winning streak, their longest since the days of Nicklas Lidstrom and Niklas Kronwall patrolling their blue line in 2011-12.
Not only have the Red Wings responded swimmingly to new coach Todd McLellan's system, but they're also right back to within striking distance of a playoff spot after occupying the next-to-last spot in the Eastern Conference and Atlantic Division upon his hiring on December 26.
Not only has the Red Wings' record improved greatly, but several players have been completely reborn under McLellan, particularly Patrick Kane.
Kane, who wasn't playing anywhere near the level of last year's near-point-per-game pace, has led the NHL in scoring since late December.
And with 6 points (2G, 4A) in his last 3 games, Kane is being honored by the NHL by being named one of the Stars of the Week.
Under Todd McLellan, Kane has been completely rejuvenated and recently spoke about the different coaching philosophy, which is far more beneficial for a player with his skillset.
This is the Kane that the Red Wings wanted to see when they re-signed him to a 1-year contract during the summer, and he's played a major part in their winning streak.
