The Detroit Red Wings organization is making a strong push at acquiring a veteran forward from a longtime Original Six rival, the Toronto Maple Leafs, and it's shocking.

With the 2025 offseason in full swing, the Detroit Red Wings organization is taking all means necessary to ensure an extremely busy summer.
The organization has undergone almost a decade of postseason absence, and with their on-going re-build in play, general manager, Steve Yzerman, is making sure the team becomes much bigger competitors for the 2025/26 NHL season.
As Yzerman and the Detroit Red Wings' front office continue to work the phones to acquire and depart with players this offseason, new insight has unfolded regarding the organization showing interest in a forward from a longtime rival, and it's shocking.

The Detroit Red Wings linked to the Toronto Maple Leafs' Max Pacioretty

Max Pacioretty is now a free agent, and while he has expressed his interest in returning to Toronto, it seems as though one team may likely stop that from happening.
That team being, the one and only, Detroit Red Wings.
According to a recent announcement by Nick Alberga, the Detroit Red Wings are seeking to make a run at Pacioretty as they are in search for a veteran capable of offering the organization the kind of leadership that they're in desperate need of.
Meanwhile, Pacioretty also has family in Michigan, so it would only make sense that this forward would like to finish his career near home.
Take a look:
«The Leafs remain interested in re-signing Max Pacioretty.

That said, being close to family, who are in Michigan, is a top priority for him.

Leading up to July 1, one team to look out for is the Detroit Red Wings.»
At this time, it is uncertain whether or not Pacioretty will make his way to Detroit this offseason, but all fingers seem to be pointing at that direction.
Do you think the Toronto Maple Leafs' Max Pacioretty will land in the Detroit Red Wings roster this summer?
