This is an ideal situation for both Mike Sullivan and the Red Wings, as he has the opportunity to use his expertise in a less-pressure role as assistant coach in Detroit alongside Todd McLellan.
Sullivan won two back-to-back Stanley Cups with the Penguins in the 2016 and 2017 seasons and could ultimately lead the Detroit Red Wings back into the playoffs for the first time since 2015.
