The real reason behind Steve Yzerman's mind-boggling decision to trade Jake Walman to the San Jose Sharks for future considerations may have been revealed.
Following the 2023-24 season, the Detroit Red Wings General Manager Steve Yzerman pulled off one of the worst trades seen in the past years.
He sent the defenseman Jake Walman to the San Jose Sharks for future considerations, who flipped him to the Edmonton Oilers for a first-round pick and forward Carl Berglund at the 2025 trade deadline.
Some interesting ideas about what could have led to the Walman trade were found in comments from an online debate.

When someone suggested the Wings could've traded Walman to make room for Jacob Trouba, who was yet to be traded, another user replied by saying injury issues and comments from Dylan Larkin could've been behind the decision.

Considering the lack of depth at the blue line in Detroit, parting ways with Walman was truly a bad move from Yzerman.
