A transaction was announced, altering Mason McTavish's potential arrival to Detroit.
Mason McTavish still hasn't signed a contract for the 2025-26 season, less than a month before the start of the NHL preseason.
For Ducks fans, there is hope that both camps can reach a deal.
Over the past years, Pat Verbeek showed that he likes taking his time in negotiations.
But as we get closer to the start of training camp, rumors will keep circulating until a deal gets announced, especially as other key RFAs around the league sign contracts.
Indeed, it was believed that contracts signed by other RFAs would have an impact on McTavish's deal.
Seravalli Comments on Marco Rossi's Deal: Will it impact McTavish's Contract?
In an interview on Bleacher Report, Seravalli stated that the Ducks, or any team who ends up getting him, won't be able to use Rossi's contract as a comparable; McTavish will earn more:
"My guess is that Mason McTavish's deal comes in higher than Marco Rossi at 3 x $5M. I just think that... Understanding the leverage that the Wild had and were willing to flex on Rossi... (and) I do think that there's lots of teams that would be interested in Mason McTavish, and I just feel like he's got a bit more leverage here and that's what it always comes down to... (plus) Anaheim really has a lot of cap space.
So, my prediction would be that Mason McTavish on his next AAV comes in higher than the three years, $5M that Rossi signed for."
