A trade officially confirmed involving $27M player and it's leaving teammates infuriated
It appears that defenseman Rasmus Andersson of the Calgary Flames could find a new home, thanks to the loose lips of his teammate Mikael Backlund who revealed his honest thoughts on the ongoing trade talks.
With the Detroit Red Wings linked to Andersson, we have to wonder if Craig Conroy is sending him south.
As one player who the Detroit Red Wings have been linked to, is he heading South?
The veteran, who has spent the majority of his career wearing a Flames uniform, will have to find himself a new home once the deal is finalized.
How soon could it happen? With news of an expected move, Flames forward Mikael Backlund wasn't shy about his unhappiness with the move in an interview with Michael Russo of The Athletic.
"Yes, he's going to get traded, that's obvious. [...]
It's a shame we're getting to this. "
- Mikael Backlund
It appears that Mikael Backlund could be a doomsayer, as the retool continues without the Flames' top defenseman, Rasmus Andersson.
Could the team involved be the Red Wings? He could shore up a blueline that let in too many goals last season. As an obvious upgrade, it'd only cost the team $4.55 million AAV.
But with their acquisition of
Noah Dobson, it's doubtful he's on their radar at this point.
The former 2nd-round pick of the Calgary Flames has seen extensive playoff time under head coach Darryl Sutter and could find a home in North America if GM Steve Yzerman can pull off a deal.
He's a 6-foot-1, 202-pound defenseman who has played 536 games in the NHL and scored 231 career points.
