Two teams appear to be in the way of the Detroit Red Wings acquiring Mason McTavish on the trade market from the Anaheim Ducks.

Although some reports confirmed that a contract extension in Anaheim wasn't off the table, here we are in August, and Mason McTavish is still a restricted free agent.
Many trade rumors are going around, and it was even confirmed that three teams, including the Detroit Red Wings, are interested.
James Murphy of RG.org revealed which teams could get in the Wings' way of getting McTavish.

Mason McTavish Linked To Three Teams Including The Detroit Red Wings

The Ducks added a lot of depth to the team over the past years by drafting and trading players, but will surely want to avoid losing McTavish, a player on his way to become a dominant top-six forward in the NHL.
A massive offer would need to be on the table for the Ducks to even consider trading him.
In one of his latest reports, Murphy confirmed that both the Montreal Canadiens and the Carolina Hurricanes are interested in McTavish:
"I've heard the Canadiens and Hurricanes have been keeping tabs, but one team I keep hearing that has continued to show strong interest is the Detroit Red Wings."
In a bidding war, Yzerman would need to consider parting ways with someone like Axel Sandin-Pellikka, or even Moritz Seider, a price he might be unwilling to pay.
The Canadiens and the Hurricanes are well equipped to make great offers to McTavish if he ever ends up available. They have draft picks, deep prospect pools, and some veterans who could tempt the Ducks GM Pat Verbeek.
Set to enter his fourth NHL season, McTavish, 22, could thrive on the Ducks' second line this year, likely playing alongside NHL veteran Chris Kreider and Troy Terry, two proven goal scorers. He had a career-high 52-point tally in 76 games last season.
