It wasn't the best of updates on the condition of injured Detroit Red Wings forward Carter Mazur, who likely won't be playing again for the foreseeable future.

Detroit Red Wings forward Carter Mazur had all of the makings of a special night at Little Caesars Arena, making his NHL debut for the club he grew up as a child rooting for and in front of hundreds of family and friends.
Unfortunately, his night ended on just his 2nd shift of the 1st period; he crashed awkwardly into the boards while trying to deliver a body check and immediately left the ice and was ruled out for the rest of the game.
Mazur, who had just been re-called from the Grand Rapids Griffins, isn't likely to play again any time soon, according to Griffins commentator Bob Kaser.
Per Bob Kaser on the broadcast no surgery required for Carter Mazur but he is out for the season unless the Griffins make the Calder Cup Finals.
Mazur made his debut wearing sweater No. 43 in honour of his favourite Red Wings player Darren Helm; that number is now being worn by goaltender Petr Mrazek.
Mrazek traditionally wears No. 34, though that's currently worn by Alex Lyon; he chose instead to wear the inverse.

Mazur had just been brought up from the Griffins

After his injury, Mazur was placed on Injured Reserve by the Red Wings.
Per coach Todd McLellan, the injury he suffered against the Utah Hockey Club wasn't very encouraging.
He has an injury that's a little more serious, and he's probably going to be out for some time.

Before being re-called by Detroit, he had 15 points (8G, 7A) in 20 games with the Griffins. He was taken 70th overall by the Red Wings in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
