After his short stint in the Chicago Blackhawks organization, it seemed as though Pat Maroon would stay retired, but after two months, he has now signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning in an ambassador role.

The Tampa Bay Lightning and Detroit Red Wings have no love lost as rivals in the Atlantic Division.
The two are intertwined in many ways, including Steve Yzerman's connection, along with recent head coach Derek Lalonde.
Another person who has ties to the team is Pat Maroon.
The veteran forward won his last two cups in the NHL with the Lightning and Jon Cooper.
Now, having stayed retired from the NHL for two months, he's excited to join the team once more as an "Alumni Relations Ambassador."
Maroon will be the face of the Lightning and Vinik Sports Group in a community relations role, dealing with youth hockey, Bolt for Life, suite holders, and partner appearances.

Pat Maroon: The Lightning's New Public Face

A role that is public-facing, and given his antics after the Lightning won their cups with him in the lineup, is a verifiable fit.
The veteran forward has no trouble whipping up a crowd and gaining influence over them.
Now, he'll have a shot to help grow the sport some more in Tampa Bay, as he'll give the Lightning a human face, rather than just the Lightning bolt, and General Manager Julien Brisebois, who, let's face it, lost face after refusing to work with Isaac Howard.
The Red Wings' rivals are three cups ahead of the team, and General Manager Steve Yzerman needs to find the magic he did in Tampa Bay to build something special here.
Perhaps, finding their own Pat Maroon to work the crowds and to protect players on the ice, like Lucas Raymond.
Marron, who played 848 games in the NHL before retiring, scored a total of 323 points (126-197) with 1,087 PIMs.
The "Big Rig" was a former 161st overall pick in the 6th round of the 2007 NHL Draft.
