The Detroit Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan slipped up and revealed that Steve Yzerman could complete trades sooner rather than later.

Todd McLellan and the Detroit Red Wings hosted the Chicago Blackhawks yesterday and couldn't generate enough on the ice to get the win, falling 5 to 1 against Arvid Soderblom in goal and Connor Bedard up front.
That game highlighted a massive issue in Detroit: the lack of offensive depth.
Although three rookies started the season in the NHL, the organization decided to give Nate Danielson a chance to prove himself for the game, calling him up from the Grand Rapids Griffins prior to the matchup.
But according to McLellan, the decision to put Danielson in the lineup highlights what's to come in Detroit.

McLellan Reveals Danielson Had An Opportunity Last Night Because The Wings Looked For Answers Ahead Of Future Trades

In his post-game press conference, McLellan revealed that the team hasn't been good enough offensively and that calling up Danielson was a way of being able to make decisions on other players as well, revealing that a trade is indeed underway.
He also mentioned how Danielson did great in his first game.
In his own words:
"We have been struggling offensively. Nate, had he not been hurt in Training Camp, I think he would have started with our team based on where he was when he did get injured. He worked hard to stay healthy, had an upper-body injury and was able to keep his legs going. That didn't go away, and he's had a pretty good start in Grand Rapids. We wanted to see him now so we can make some decisions, perhaps on some other players. For him, for his first game, I thought he did some real good things on the ice."
Captain Dylan Larkin also shared his thoughts on Danielson's first game:
"I thought he got more comfortable as the game went on. We know Danny well. He's been in the organization for a while. Big congratulations to him and his family, and something that's well deserved. When he came up and came into the lineup today, guys were happy for him. We know he's got skill and can skate."

Finally, Danielson himself opened up:
"I wasn't too nervous this morning, but definitely leading up to game time. First shift was a little bit nervous, but then settled in pretty good after that.

I thought we played a pretty good game overall. We outshot them by quite a bit but just need to capitalize on our opportunities."

Danielson couldn't add his name to the scoresheet, but tallied four shots in over 15 minutes of ice-time.
It'll be interesting to see how long the player remains in the NHL.
