Starting goalie announced as the Red Wings look to keep the streak rolling against Hurricanes on Friday

The Detroit Red Wings are undefeated (albeit in a short sample size) with Petr Mrazek as their goaltender, and they're hoping to keep that ball rolling on Friday.
It seemed like old times for the Detroit Red Wings against the Buffalo Sabres, as the Red Wings pounded them into submission with 7 goals, winning 7-3.
The Red Wings also turned to Petr Mrazek in goal, as he earned his 1st start for the team since he was traded away in February 2018.
And according to head coach Todd McLellan, it will be most likely be Mrazek once again getting the nod in net when the Red Wings face the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night.
Before Detroit's win over the Sabres on Wednesday, head coach Todd McLellan touted Mrazek's familiarity with the franchise as a strength along with having already played in a 3-goalie situation (Arvid Soderblom, Laurent Brossoit) with the Blackhawks.
He's familiar with a lot of faces that are around and he's played with a couple of guys in the past, whether it was here or different places. It's not like he's a brand -new guy. Having him active on the bench the other night was important.
"They had the three-goalie thing going in Chicago, and his participation level probably slipped there because of their commitment to the other two (goalies). Having him around the team, and in meetings, all that type of stuff, that didn't hurt.

Mrazek played several years for the Hurricanes after departing Detroit, even helping them to a 1st round 7-game Stanley Cup Playoff upset over the defending Cup champion Washington Capitals in 2019.
